Welcome to Island 3D Printing, the Islands first stop for the prototyping of plastic components and limited runs of items. We produce in PLA and ABS plastics, PLA is derived from corn oils which makes it environmentally friendly and biodegrades in water after a year. ABS plastic is made from oils which gives it a good heat resistance properties and does not degrade in liquids so it is suitable for plumbing or any other fittings. We are currently researching and testing flexible printing material so soon you will be able to order custom shaped seals or flexible moulds. As well as creating made to order pieces we specialise in small model making pieces such as windows, doors, lighting solutions and small replacement parts.
Creating your designs couldn't be easier, using any CAD program is suitable but if you have drawings on paper we can design the items for you to the exact measurements. A common software to use if you are planning on drawing your own 3D objects is Google SketchUp . It's also free to use forever and there are a large amount of tutorials available on it.
Now your probably wondering what colour is my final piece going to be when its been printed, well it will be one solid colour that is completely up to you, but all colours are available even glow in the dark!
But how much will it cost?
The cost of your finished item will solely depend on the volume of the object, not the footprint but the cubic volume.
How can I find the cost of it?
By checking the table on our products page, this shows the cost against the volume of the finished item.
How do you print it for me?
Firstly you create a 3D file or a set of drawings for us to work with, you then send them to us via email, we then discuss a price, print your object and mail it to you or you can pick it up.
Can I get my own 3D printer?
Yes you can, we can supply 3D printers assembled or in kit form. We are also designing a low cost 3D printer currently which should be for release in the near future at a greatly reduced price to current printers available.
